Mr. McQuiston has written and spoken on numerous topics relating to commercial lending, construction law, power projects, and tax credits for affordable housing and is a member of numerous professional associations.

Alex McQuiston is a senior partner at Emmet.  He is head of the firm’s multi-family affordable housing practice. He serves or has served on the firm’s executive committee, strategic committee, technology committee and conflicts committee.

Practice Focus:

Commercial Lending;  Real Estate Finance;  Real Property.  Alex McQuiston is counsel to a number of leading banking and financial institutions specializing in direct debt transactions, bond financings, letter of credit transactions, and equity investments. Transactional matters cover several specialized industries including construction and term loan financing for office buildings, multi-family housing, hotels and shopping centers; acquisition and permanent financing of power projects; working capital facilities for mortgage banking companies and REITs; letter of credit and working capital facilities for multi-national companies, which may involve complex cross-border issues; and debt and equity transactions for multi-family senior and affordable housing projects.  Loan transactions include secured and unsecured credit facilities such as asset-based revolving credit facilities and mezzanine loans.  Equity investments include transactions generating federal and state low income housing tax credits, historic tax credits and new markets tax credits.  Mr. McQuiston has been lead counsel in a number of significant syndicated debt and equity transactions, as well as counsel in interesting and complex bilateral and multiple-lender facilities. Mr. McQuiston also counsels financial institutions on troubled transactions, workouts and decisions regarding remedies.
